## FAQ

### ACN or ABN?

Either. The ACN is the company's own register number and the ABN is the tax-side identifier built on it, so an ABN contains the ACN and both resolve in the search.

### Does the au register cover trusts and other entities?

The ASIC register is companies. Entities that hold only an ABN, such as trusts and partnerships, sit in the Australian Business Register, and the API's au dataset is the ASIC company register.

### Is the search free?

Yes, here and on the API. Nothing is asked for on this page, and a search over the API is never billed.
