### Should I search with a SIREN or a SIRET?

Either. A SIREN resolves to the legal entity and a SIRET to one establishment of it. Both are matched exactly when passed as the identifier, and a name search returns the closest ranked candidates.

### What does the status on a French company mean?

The SIRENE status says whether the entity is active or has ceased. The profile endpoint adds the dates and the administrative fields behind it.

### Is the France search free?

Yes. It costs nothing here and nothing on the API, because search is never billed, and the only price on the platform is $0.01 for a verified company profile.
